State Senator Jenny Oropeza and Secretary of State Debra Bowen plan to meet with local community members during a 28th Senate District town hall meeting in Westchester Thursday, January 29th.

The event is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Mary Lou Crockett Room of the Westchester-Loyola Village Branch Library, 7114 Manchester Ave. in Westchester.

Among issues to be discussed by Oropeza and Bowen at the meeting are the 2008 state election and the state budget.

Oropeza also plans to review her 2008 legislation and discuss her proposals for the new year. The state senator will also introduce her district office staff, and she and Bowen will address local projects and issues.

Elected to the Assembly in 2000 and the Senate in 2006, Oropeza is one of the highest-ranking Latinos in the Legislature and chairs the Senate Democratic Caucus. Her district includes a portion of the Argonaut coverage area south of Santa Monica.
