More than 2,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in the Mar Vista area lost power in an outage that lasted for more than four hours Saturday evening, December 16th, a Water and Power spokeswoman said.

The power outage began at 5:18 p.m. and power was fully restored at 9:56 p.m., she said.

The outage affected approximately 2,049 Department of Water and Power customers, said Kim Hughes, department spokeswoman.

No businesses reported loss of power, she said.

The area affected by the outage is bordered by Pacific Avenue to the north, Centinela Avenue to the east, Glencoe Avenue to the west and Maxella Avenue to the south, Hughes said.

Water and Power officials are unsure what caused the loss of power, but said the outage may have occurred when a balloon or palm fronds blew onto power lines.

Utility crews that worked to restore the power did not see any wires down in the area, Hughes said.
