The Rose Caf/ in Venice will be exhibiting eco-friendly paintings by artist Cassandra Tondro beginning Thursday, March 8 through April 29.
With a longstanding interest in incorporating nontoxic and eco-friendly materials into her artwork, Tondro uses leftover acrylic latex paint – also known as house paint – in her paintings.
She says she salvages the paint from recycling centers in the Los Angeles area before it is sent to landfills, and also combs shelves of home improvement stores.
Tondro’s art has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the U.S. and abroad. Her work is in numerous public, corporate and private collections.
In addition, one of her paintings was selected for the American Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon in conjunction with the Art in Embassies Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
The artist will be at the caf/ from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 31 to meet with visitors.
The Rose Caf/ is at 220 Rose Ave., Venice.
