The city of Santa Monica will again welcome thousands of fans of the teams competing in the Rose Bowl Game for pep rallies.

The University of Wisconsin and the University of Oregon will have their fans, alumni, players, coaches, cheerleaders and other VIPs join in the pre-game celebration at the Santa Monica Pier.

Wisconsin’s pep rally will take place on Saturday, Dec. 31 and Oregon’s pep rally will take place on Sunday, Jan. 1 for the Rose Bowl Game on Jan. 2.

Complimentary and open to the public, both events will feature specialties from local food vendors and varied entertainment.

“Santa Monica is excited to once again welcome two champion teams,” Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom said. “I believe that one thing all fans will agree on is that Santa Monica offers a broad range of world class amenities to enjoy before and after the parade and game.”

Misti Kerns, president and CEO of the Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau, added, “Our local businesses are excited about the influx of visitors from both of these teams. We hope to again see fans enjoying all that our destination has to offer and encourage local fans to join in the fun and celebrate the New Year holidays where else, but right here at the beach.”

Representatives from the two schools athletic programs were also pleased to hold their pre-game festivities in the coastal city.

“Wisconsin fans had such an amazing experience at the Party at the Pier at the Santa Monica Pier last year, that we had to come back to Santa Monica again,” said Kevin Kleunder, assistant athletic director at the University of Wisconsin.

“University of Oregon will be back in Santa Monica for its Rose Bowl pep rally this year. Ducks fans are very excited to experience the Southern California beach party at the pier,” said Tim Clevenger, University of Oregon executive director.
