In celebration of its new space for classic photography at A1 in Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, the Peter Fetterman Gallery is presenting two exhibitions: Winter, a series of winter images by contemporary photographer Jeffrey Conley, and a selection of favorite images by photographer Elliott Erwitt in The World of Elliott Erwitt through July 30.
Conley is an artist who follows in the tradition of the American landscape photographers but one who also displays a distinctly original voice, a gallery spokesperson says.
Conley’s images share what he has seen and experienced in his journey through nature. The images featured in the exhibit can be found in his new book “Winter” [published by Nazraeli Press in association with Peter Fetterman Gallery].
A member of the prestigious Magnum agency since 1954, Erwitt has photographed all over the world. With a keen eye, he sees beyond the tourist clichés and chronicles the charm of city life and relationships, whether they be between man and woman, or man and dog, the gallery spokesperson notes. His glimpse of California in “Malibu Kiss” for example, captures an intimate yet delightful moment between two lovers while watching the sun set into the Pacific horizon, the spokesperson says.
Peter Fetterman Gallery is located at 2525 Michigan Ave. A1, Santa Monica. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
