Ocean Wild, a solo exhibit of photography capturing undersea life by National Geographic photographer Brian Skerry, is being presented at the G2 Gallery in Venice through June 19.
All proceeds from art sales will benefit the Santa Monica-based environmental organization Heal the Bay.
An opening reception with Skerry is scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 28. A $5 admission to the reception will benefit Heal the Bay. RSVP is required to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The images featured in Ocean Wild survey Skerry’s National Geographic work from 1999 to the present, including his documentation of the marine life around environmentally compromised areas in Japan and the Central Pacific Ocean’s Kingman Reef.
With his images, Skerry’s hope is that people will be inspired to save the ocean because as he states, Š”it belongs to everyone. Regardless of where you live, the ocean is vital to your life and by taking ownership I believe people will begin to care and protect what they own, and pass this stewardship on to future generations.”
Ocean Wild is a traveling exhibit and comes to the G2 Gallery from Mass Audubon.
