A 29-year-old Santa Monica man was booked for attempted murder Wednesday, June 10th in connection with the assault of a man who was found bleeding from the head in his Pico Neighborhood apartment, police said.

Santa Monica police were called at 8:36 p.m. June 10th to an apartment in the 2200 block of Stewart Street regarding the report of a possible assault with a deadly weapon, Sgt. David Hunscke said.

When officers arrived they spoke with witnesses who said they heard what sounded like a “physical altercation” inside the apartment, Hunscke said.

Officers entered the apartment and found the victim on the floor, bleeding from his head. Santa Monica Fire Department paramedics treated the victim for severe head trauma at the scene and transported him to a local hospital, Hunscke said.

The suspect, identified as Osvaldo Garcia, was arrested at the scene and he was booked in Santa Monica Jail for attempted murder and probation violation, the police spokesman said. Bail was set at $1 million.
