Jim McClune, St. Bernard High School principal, has been inducted into the Southern California Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
McClune, who coached the St. Bernard Vikings varsity boys basketball team for 17 years, was honored as an inductee into the coaches association Hall of Fame at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section boys basketball finals Saturday, March 4th.
During McClune’s coaching career at St. Bernard, he won two CIF championships and five league championships, and led teams to six Final Four appearances and a Southern California state final appearance.
McClune also helped advance 28 of his players to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college teams and won over 400 games during his coaching career.
Four of his players were high school All-Americans, including Corey Gaines, Leonard Taylor, David Whitmore and Edward Stokes.
Three of McClune’s former players currently coach at the college level.
