Brian Locke, an honors student at St. Bernard High School in Playa del Rey, won first place in the Future Collegians World Tour golf competition in La Quinta.
Locke is scheduled to graduate from St. Bernard next year.
“Brian Locke is one of the best high school golfers in the state and is also a two-year letterman on our soccer team,” said James McClune, St. Bernard High School principal.
Locke was selected on the first team All American Future Collegians World Tour for 2003-04 and was picked for a four-man Southern California Junior America’s Cup Team last year.
This month he will participate with the four-man Southern California Hogan Cup Team in Portland.
He has participated in the Southern California Junior America’s Cup Team competition, the Westfield Professional Golfers Association Junior Section Championship, the California State Junior Amateur Championship and six Southern California Professional Golfers Association Toyota Tour Cup Tournaments.
He has been named a Toyota Tour Club Player of the Year by the Southern California Professional Golfers Association of America.
Locke placed first in the 16- and 17-year division of the Yorba Linda Junior Invitational and was selected Player of the Series of the California Junior Tour.
Last year, he set a course record during tournament play at Cross Creek Golf Club in Temecula and he won the Victoria Junior Championship at the Links in Victoria.
He medaled for St. Bernard High School in Del Rey League high school competition.
