The 28th Annual Holiday Home Tour benefiting the Airport Marina Counseling Service will spotlight four homes in Westchester, and for the first time, one home in Playa Vista from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7.
Presented by the Westchester Mental Health Guild, the tour is the guild’s largest fundraiser and features community homes that are all decorated for the upcoming holidays.
Net proceeds from this event support Airport Marina Counseling Service, which provides 15,000 hours of child, adult and family counseling services annually to people in the local community and surrounding areas. The clinic has established outreach programs to local elementary and high schools, providing child therapy and preventive intervention.
Among the four Westchester homes shown on the tour is a 6,400-square foot French country estate, complete with a vast backyard, swimming pool with a water slide, and a separate pool house.
Another Westchester home is a 3,000-square foot Italian country retreat which consists of a state-of-the-art kitchen with a Sub-Zero glass-door refrigerator-freezer with ice drawer, a six-burner stove with separate grill, two sinks, and a custom-made stone hood over the stove. A large granite island provides both work space and an eating area. Other features include French doors leading outside to a sizeable flagstone loggia with a gas fireplace and a brick and colored concrete patio, with a built-in gas grill, sink, fountains, and two-level seating.
Also in Westchester is a remodeled three-bedroom bungalow, which welcomes visitors through a dark wooden entry door that opens into a large, airy room. The Tuscany-style home features displays of art and artifacts from the owners’ travels and collections.
The fourth Westchester home is a recently remodeled and redecorated five-bedroom, 3 -bath Cape Cod family home, built for entertaining with a pool with diving board and slide, fire pit, built-in barbecue and Jacuzzi.
New to the Holiday Home Tour this year is a visit to the Playa Vista planned community. The Playa Vista home that will be shown is a 2,800-square foot, five-level contemporary home decorated by its artistic owners. This home includes a modern kitchen, a long curved bench and Italian tile table, custom made for the room’s dining area. The living room has the artist owner’s paintings flanking a big-screen TV, which faces custom-made furniture.
