Police have arrested three women in connection with a residential burglary in Santa Monica in which the suspects allegedly distracted a woman to steal from her.
Police were called at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 30th, to a residence in the 500 block of Bay Street, west of Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica, where a distraction-style burglary was reported, Sgt. Renaldi Thruston said.
The resident told police that three suspects “made up a story and asked her to allow them inside her home to wash their hands,” Thruston said.
Once the suspects were inside, one of them distracted the wom- an while the others allegedly stole the woman’s wallet from her purse and then left, Thruston said.
After noticing that her wallet was taken, the woman wrote down the license plate number of the fleeing suspects’ vehicle.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Southwest Division later detained the suspects, and after they were identified by the woman, the suspects were booked at Santa Monica Jail for burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime, Thruston said.
The suspects were identified as Delilah Yonko of Los Angeles, Laura Mark-Stevens of Hayward and Tammy Boswell, a transient, police said.
