A man was in stable condition after being stabbed seven times on Seventh Street in Santa Monica Sunday, January 29th, police said.

Santa Monica police were called to the 1600 block of Seventh Street at 9:01 p.m. regarding a reported stabbing incident, Santa Monica Police Lt. Frank Fabrega said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying on the sidewalk unconscious.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

The man’s injuries included seven stab wounds to his face, arms, torso and a punctured lung, police said.

Statements from witnesses led officers to the location of the suspect in the stabbing, police said.

The suspect, identified as Chester Cornelius White, 55, transient, was booked for attempted murder and his bail was set at $527,500, police said.
