Santa Monica police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a robbery at a Chase Bank Jan. 17.

The incident occurred at about 1:25 p.m. at the Chase Bank, 1333 Fourth St. in Santa Monica.

Witnesses told officers that a suspect had entered the bank and allegedly handed a teller a note demanding money, Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis said.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the teller, the suspect fled the location on foot, Lewis said.

The suspect is described as an African-American man in his mid-40s, 5-foot-8, heavyset, wearing green Dockers pants and a yellow shirt with green stripes and white tennis shoes, Lewis said.

The investigation is ongoing.
