Santa Monica police are looking for a man who allegedly attempted to lure a 16-year-old girl into his vehicle on Marine Street in Santa Monica Tuesday, July 18th.

Police were called to the area of 14th and Marine Streets at about 4:15 p.m. regarding a report of a juvenile annoyance.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 16-year-old girl was contacted by a man who allegedly drove alongside her and made lewd comments, police said.

The suspect spoke to the victim in both English and Spanish. He then opened his side passenger door, leaned across the seat and grabbed at the girl while saying to her, “Come here,” police alleged.

The girl reportedly alleged to police that the suspect’s trousers were unzipped and his “white boxer” type underwear was exposed. The girl continued walking east on Marine Street until she met a friend in the 1500 block of Marine Street. The suspect then drove away on Marine Street towards Dewey Street.

The girl remembered having seen the suspect and his vehicle in the area earlier in the day but had no contact with him then, police said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years old, of unknown height and medium weight, with short black hair combed back, wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and white boxer-type underwear, police said.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as an unknown-year dark- green Honda Accord or similar four-door sedan, with stock hubcaps and untinted windows, police said.
