Santa Monica Police detectives are searching for a suspect and his associates who are allegedly responsible for a series of residential burglaries in Santa Monica.

“The suspect is the head of a Gypsies group operating in the Southern California area,” said Santa Monica Police officials.

The alleged crimes range from staged traffic accidents to residential burglaries by deception or trickery.

Police allege that the suspects often pose as contractors, gardeners, utility company employees, or relatives of neighbors.

The suspects distract the victim while a co-suspect enters the victim’s residence to steal money or jewelry, police allege.

The alleged suspect has been identified by police as Michael Adams — also known as Michael Ross — and describes as 25 years old, weighing 220 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a large pickup truck or SUV. However, police believe the suspect often changes vehicles.

Anyone with information is asked to call Santa Monica Police Department Detective Bambrick, (310) 458-8932, or the watch commander, (310) 458-8426.
