Santa Monica police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with a sexual battery earlier this month.

The incident occurred at around 4 p.m. July 4 at a carport in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and Euclid Avenue in Santa Monica.

A woman told police that she had pulled her vehicle into her carport, opened the door and prepared to get out, when she was approached by a suspect who stood between her and the vehicle door, Sgt. Richard Lewis said.

The suspect then allegedly reached in the vehicle and began groping the woman’s breasts and crotch area, Lewis said.

After the victim was able to get away from the suspect and went into her apartment, the suspect left the area in a vehicle, Lewis said.

The suspect is described as a white or light skinned Hispanic man with a “ruddy” complexion, 5-foot-9, 150 pounds, wearing a white baseball cap turned backwards, no shirt and blue jeans. He is additionally described as being very fit and having a tattoo of a woman’s face on the left side of his chest, as well as tattoos on his right bicep and right side of his abdomen.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a newer, shiny, white sport model Toyota or Honda.

The initial investigation is ongoing and at this time is believed to be unrelated to a sexual assault that occurred in the city on July 6, Lewis said.
