Santa Monica police are asking for the public’s help inlocating a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman while wearing a wetsuit near Santa Monica College earlier this month.
The woman told police that she was walking in the 1300 block of Pearl Street at about 10 p.m. July 6, when a suspect ran up from behind and pushed her, Sgt. Richard Lewis said.
When the victim tried to turn around, the suspect allegedly struck her and forced her to the ground, Lewis said. The man then allegedly held the victim down while he sexually assaulted her, before running away eastbound on Pearl Street, Lewis said.
The suspect is described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, weighing 140 to 150 pounds, with blonde short, curly hair, blue or green eyes, police said. During the suspected attack, the man was wearing what appeared to be a full one-piece black wetsuit or similar type suit that covered his neck to his ankles, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
