Ilan Dei Venice – A Store and Project Lab will launch Moving LA: People-Powered Design Thursday, Oct. 11, a monthlong, pop-up exhibition and store featuring locally designed and manufactured products that aim to empower residents to actively use their bodies as they enjoy the natural environment.
The facility is designed to function as a retail storefront, an exhibition space, and a community gathering space.
A portion of the proceeds from the Moving LA: People-Powered Design exhibit will benefit Venice Family Clinic, a community health clinic that works to provide affordable, quality health care to low-income community members.
An opening night party for the exhibit is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Ilan Dei, 1650 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice.
The exhibition is curated by Stuart Karten, founder and principal of award-winning product innovation consultancy Karten Design. Featuring products such as carbon-fiber bicycles, stand-up paddle boards, and skateboards by local designers, this exhibit is at the core of Karten’s work, he said.
“I am lucky to live in an environment that not only is conducive to getting outside, but also sparks the creativity of those in it to drive new and innovative ways of engaging with that environment,” he says.
Moving LA: People-Powered Design will run for one month at Ilan Dei Venice – A Store and Project Lab.
