The National Psoriasis Foundation is hosting its annual Walk for Awareness at Ocean View Park, 2701 Barnard Way, in Santa Monica Saturday, April 25th.
The event aims to raise awareness about psoriasis and funds for the foundation’s research, education and advocacy programs. Psoriasis is a chronic disease of the immune system that appears on the skin, usually in the form of thick, red patches. People with the disease are at risk of developing other serious conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.
As many as 7.5 million people are affected by the disease nationwide.
The walk event will also include performances by the Dance Masters, Veronica Lopez and Marston Smith.
Registration for the event begins at 8 a.m., with the walk scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Participants can choose to walk either a one-kilometer or five-kilometer route.
All ages are welcome. All participants receive a goody bag and those who raise $100 or more will receive a T-shirt.
