Santa Monica Public Library’s temporary library at 1324 Fifth St., Santa Monica, will be closed to the public beginning Monday, December 5th, in order to move materials and staff to the new Main Library.
The temporary library has served the downtown area during the construction of the new 104,000-square-foot Main Library by Moore Ruble Yudell Architects and Planners.
The new Main Library is at 601 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica and it will celebrate its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 7th.
During the move to the new Main Library, library service will be available at these branches:
n Montana Avenue Branch Library, 1704 Montana Ave., Santa Monica. (310) 829-7081;
n Fairview Branch Library, 2101 Ocean Park Blvd., Santa Monica. (310) 450-0443; and
n Ocean Park Branch Library, 2601 Main St., Santa Monica. (310) 392-3804.
Branch library hours are noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Branch libraries are closed Fridays and Sundays.
The Santa Monica Public Library’s Web site at www.smpl.org offers access to the online catalog, library account information, online databases, email reference, and Ask Now, an interactive reference service available at all times.
