A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) vehicle pursuit ended in Santa Monica Tuesday, October 3rd, with a collision and two women being taken to hospitals with injuries, fire officials said.

LAPD officers responded to the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Butler Avenue in West Los Angeles, where a felony hit-and-run accident had been reported.

The suspect in the hit-and-run allegedly failed to stop and units from the LAPD and UCLA Police Department pursued the suspect across city limits into Santa Monica.

The suspect’s vehicle eventually collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Berkeley Street and Broadway in Santa Monica, fire officials said.

Santa Monica police officers, investigators and community service officers were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

Two Santa Monica Fire Department paramedic engines and two paramedic ambulances also responded to the scene.

The suspect, a 24-year-old woman, was treated at the scene for minor to moderate injuries and taken to UCLA Westwood Medical Center, fire officials said.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 42-year-old woman, was also treated at the scene and taken to St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica for treatment of reportedly minor injuries, officials said.

Both drivers were the lone occupants of their vehicles.

The suspect was in police custody, pending further investigation.
