The 49th Annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade, with the theme “Christmas Carnivale,” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, beginning with a fireworks display off the south jetty at 5:55 p.m.

The parade will be held rain or shine.

Radio personality Mike Sakellarides from 94.7 “The Wave” will serve as co-grand marshal of this year’s parade along with Santa Claus, Holiday Boat Parade organizers have announced.

Sakellarides is featured weekends and holidays on L.A.’s new Christmas station, 94.7 “The Wave” where listeners can relax and unwind with the smoothest sounds of the season. Previously, Sakellarides hosted shows at L.A.’s RETRO 1260 and for many years at KOST. 103.5

He also acts in movies, T.V. and commercials. Additionally, he serves as second vice president of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA-L.A.).

Boat owners will compete for numerous prize packages, with the “Best Overall” winning a trip to New Orleans in keeping with the parade theme.

According to parade organizers, some of the best spots for viewing the boat parade are Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, and Fisherman’s Village, 13755 Fiji Way, where spectators may see and hear the parade free of charge.

Radio broadcaster Lisa Osborne and television host and voice actor Mickey Laszlo will return as the parade announcers at Burton Chace Park.

Free parking and boat launching is available at Los Angeles County public parking lots throughout Marina del Rey.
