Lisa Osborn, a newscaster on radio station KFI-AM, and Mickey Laszlo, a cartoon voiceover actor and former traffic reporter on KABC-TV, will provide commentary on the 42nd Annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade for spectators in Burton Chace Park in the Marina between 6 and 8 p.m., Saturday, December 11th.
The theme for this year’s Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade is “Sights and Sounds of the Holidays.”
The parade start will be noted with a fireworks show at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, December 11th.
“This is the best community event of the year,” said Osborn, a Marina resident and last year’s boat parade park announcer.
“A lot of people get together with friends and families for the boat parade to celebrate the season California style.
“The boats are always beautifully decorated and it’s fun for people of all ages,” she said.
Osborn and Laszlo once worked together as traffic reporters for several Los Angeles area radio stations.
“Over the years, we’ve helped millions of people in Southern California avoid traffic troubles,” Laszlo said. “This will be a fun opportunity to share information about a different kind of transportation — boats.”
In addition to her association with KFI-AM, Osborn is the morning host on KKZZ-AM and the midday host on KFC-FM.
Laszlo is the voice of Kid in the animated cartoon series “Kid the Super Truck.” She is also the narrator for “Vignettes for Training,” an online training program used by companies throughout the U.S.
The boat parade entrance fee is $25 for personal boats. Commercial entry fees are higher.
There is also a “two for one” entry offer where past participant entry fees will be waived if a past entrant enters another boat owner who hasn’t entered the boat parade before.
Boat parade entrants will compete for a variety of trophies and prizes.
