The American Red Cross Santa Monica chapter and radio station KLOS/95.5 will host the 27th Annual American Red Cross/KLOS Blood Drive for four days beginning Wednesday, July 30th.
The blood drive is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, July 30th through August 1st, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 2nd.
Those wishing to participate in the 27th Annual Red Cross/ KLOS Blood Drive are encouraged to make an appointment to donate blood. Local residents can call the American Red Cross at (800) 448-3543 (GIVE-LIFE), or visit www.givelife.org/.
Persons in good health over the age of 17 (age 16 if accompanied by a parent) and who weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to donate blood. A photo identification is required for blood donations. The American Red Cross asks potential donors to be sure to drink plenty of water and eat normally before giving blood.
Donations will be taken at the Santa Monica Red Cross chapter at 1450 11th St. in Santa Monica, near Broadway. Free parking is available. An appointment to give blood is highly recommended.
Red Cross officials said the blood drive is a great opportunity to provide much-needed relief at a time when blood supplies are at a low.
Participants in this year’s Red Cross/KLOS Blood Drive will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
All blood and platelet donors with prescheduled appointments will receive a voucher, on a first-come, first-served basis (while supplies last), for one general admission ticket to see their choice of Crue Fest at the Glen Helen Pavilion in San Bernardino Saturday, August 2nd; ZZ Top with Brooks and Dunn at Glen Helen Pavilion on Sunday, August 3rd; or Metal Masters featuring Judas Priest and Heaven and Hell at the Glen Helen Pavilion on Saturday, August 30th.
Tickets are courtesy of LiveNation. Ticket choices are extremely limited and not guaranteed.
In addition, participants who donate at one of the Red Cross KLOS blood drives will be invited to enter their name in a drawing for a $500 gas gift card. Two $500 gas cards will be awarded. All prizes are nontransferable and not redeemable for cash.
