The 13.1 Marathon-Los Angeles, one of eight races in a national half marathon series taking place in Southern California, will take place Sunday, Jan. 15.
The race will begin at 7 a.m. at the Venice Boardwalk at Rose Avenue and end in Playa del Rey. A new scenic course is featured for the half marathon and Karhu 5K events.
In addition, the event will include fire dancers, Tokyo drummers, live bands, local cheer squads and volunteer groups.
Participants and spectators are encouraged to wear costumes to enjoy a festive race atmosphere.
Registration is currently open. The registration fee is $85 through Jan. 8, or $100 during the week of the 13.1 Marathon.
The Karhu 5K registration fee is $25 through Jan. 8, or $30 during the week of the event.
