Los Angeles Councilman Bill Rosendahl is asking local community members to help the Emergency Winter Shelter for the homeless by donating supplies and personal items.

The Emergency Winter Shelter program has begun operating to provide temporary relief and services for the homeless on the Westside during the winter months.

The shelter will provide more than 200 beds for the homeless through mid-March.

Rosendahl noted that the shelter and its services need additional assistance and he is encouraging the community to help by donating personal items and supplies including:

Toiletries: razors; soap; toothpaste; feminine hygiene products; foot spray; deodorant; combs; hairbrushes; nail clippers; and shower shoes.

Clothing: men’s and women’s underwear; socks; T-shirts; coats; jackets; hats; scarves; gloves; men’s and women’s pants; and shoes.

Personal items: backpacks and reading glasses.

Items for shelter: coffee; creamer; sugar; books; magazines; and board games.

The items can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 16 at Rosendahl’s Westside offices at:

7166 W. Manchester Ave., Westchester, (310) 569-8772; or 1645 Corinth Ave., #201, West Los Angeles, (310) 575-8461.
