The Venice Beach area has experienced a recent uptick in thefts involving mobile devices, Los Angeles police have announced.

The Los Angeles Police Department Pacific division issued an alert notifying community members of an increase in robberies in Venice, where pedestrians carrying electronic devices such as iPhones and iPods have been targeted.

Police advise residents to not walk around with electronic devices or earplugs exposed and to be aware of their surroundings.
