Boy Scout Troop 716, led by scoutmaster Conrad Stanley, and chartered to Westchester United Methodist Church, has announced its newest Eagle Scout, Robert Gladstone.

To earn Scouting’s highest award, Gladstone had to advance through the scout ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life.

He had to earn 21 merit badges on various subjects, serve as a leader in the troop, and complete a major community service project.

Gladstone’s service project took place at The Tennis Key at Westchester Park. The project included planning construction, choosing and obtaining all materials, and leading in constructing eight trash can enclosures.

Home Depot donated some of the materials and Gladstone obtained other donations as well.

Gladstone is 14 years old and will be starting ninth grade in the fall at El Segundo High School.

He has earned 25 merit badges and is currently senior patrol leader of the troop. Gladstone says he enjoys scouting and tennis and he is on the Tennis Key Titan open level tennis team.
