Construction crews are scheduled to commence work on roadway safety improvements this month at the intersection of Pershing Drive and Nicholson Street in Playa del Rey and plan to continue construction for approximately three months.

The improvement process includes the installation of a new traffic signal, street lighting and interconnect system in the existing right-of-way at the intersection of Pershing Drive, Cabora Road and Nicholson Street, which officials said will improve traffic safety in that part of Playa del Rey.

The project is intended to enhance pedestrian accessibility by aligning crosswalks and sidewalks and it will also include minor fencing replacement.

Construction is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays, in an effort to reduce the impact on traffic congestion, officials said.

“These street improvements will enhance the safety of this area, and aid the flow of traffic as well,” said Sibyl Buchanan, Playa Vista community relations director. “Through limiting the hours of the construction crews, we are also taking steps to reduce disruption during commuting hours.”
