A 47-year-old children’s talent agent who worked out of his home in Santa Monica has been accused of sexually molesting a former client for over three years, police said.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Martin Weiss Dec. 1 with multiple felony counts including three counts of sodomy of a person under 16; two counts each of lewd act upon a child and continuous sexual abuse; and one count of forcible lewd act upon a child, Deputy District Attorney Ronda Brody said.

Weiss pleaded not guilty to the charges during an arraignment at Van Nuys Superior Court and bail was set at $800,000, a court spokesperson said.

The charges involve one victim, an aspiring singer and former client of Weiss’, who alleged to police that he was sexually abused between 2005 and 2008, starting when he was 11 years old, prosecutors said. The crimes allegedly occurred at a residence in Woodland Hills and at Weiss’ Santa Monica residence, police said.

Police believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone who may have been assaulted by Weiss to come forward.

The former client, who is now 18, told police that he came forward with the allegations for the first time last month because he feared the information would damage his reputation in the industry and traumatize his family, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.

The victim said he also decided to notify police because he feared Weiss may be victimizing others, the LAPD spokesperson said.

Weiss, who operated his talent agency business out of his home in Santa Monica for the past 14 years, previously worked as a costumed character for children’s parties with costumes ranging from cartoon characters to the Easter Bunny, police said.

Los Angeles police detectives arrested Weiss Nov. 29 after serving a search warrant at his home.

If convicted, Weiss faces a maximum sentence of 48 years in state prison, district attorney spokeswoman Shiara Davila said.
