Designating April as Teacher and Faculty Appreciation Month, Dr. Brendan Murray of the Institute for Spine and Sports Care in Santa Monica has offered to give a free full exam to teachers, faculty members and their families who make an appointment this month.
The exam, a $200 value, will include health and history consultation, orthopedic and neurological exam and a report of findings. Patients will be required to show proof of their employment, or family member’s employment prior to the appointment.
All medical information is held confidential. To make an appointment, (310) 998-5800.
Asked why he wanted to do this for the teachers, Murray replied, “I come from a family of teachers —ÝmyÝmotherÝwas a teacher for 30-plusÝyears, my aunt, my sister,Ýtwo of my sisters-in-law, are all teachers.
“I was raised in a household where the importance of learning was stressed and the value of what a teacher does for their students was understood. I wanted to give something back to a vital profession and to my community.”
Murray, a native of Santa Monica, graduated magna cum laude from Cleveland Chiropractic College for both his bachelor’s and doctorate degrees with an emphasis in sports healthcare.
For over 20 years, he has been a participating doctor with high school and professional athletic teams. He is the current team doctor for the United States Weightlifting Team that is competing in the Pan American Games this spring.
