The Concerned Residents Against Airport Pollution will hold a Santa Monica City Council candidates forum focusing on Santa Monica Airport issues related to air pollution, noise, health and safety.

The event is scheduled at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 at the Santa Monica Business Park, just north of the airport at 3250 Ocean Park Blvd., Suite 160 in Santa Monica.

All 15 Santa Monica City Council candidates, including two incumbents, vying for four open seats have been invited to participate. The candidates will have the opportunity to make an opening and closing statement and to answer questions.

The forum moderator will be Martin Rubin, director of the anti-pollution group. Among other issues, the forum is expected to address the future of the airport.

“As we approach the June 30, 2015 termination date of the 1984 Santa Monica Airport Agreement, this fifth forum will target the candidates’ views regarding the future of the 227 acres that are now Santa Monica Airport,” Rubin said.

The event is free and open to the public. Free on-site parking is available with validation.
