CityTV, the government community cable channel for the city of Santa Monica, recently received two 2011 Los Angeles Area Emmy Award nominations for its Legal Aid Foundation and Toy Loan Program Public Service Announcements (PSA).

CityTV’s Legal Aid Foundation PSA “Tell Someone” depicts a trapeze artist losing control and falling through the air, only to be caught by a safety net. A CityTV spokesperson says the PSA message alludes to the protection that the Legal Aid Foundation provides to the community.

“Tell Someone” was produced by Sonya Kay Blake, Robin Gee, Al Johnson, and Karolyn Szot.

The channel’s other Emmy nomination was for the Toy Loan Program PSA, jointly produced by CityTV and the LA County Channel. Both PSAs were produced as part of the Women in Film Public Service Announcement Production Program.

This is the third year for the program partnership and also the third year it has been recognized with an Emmy nomination. The Toy Loan Program PSA was produced by Emily Butali, Gee, and Johnson.

The award winners for the 63rd Annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards will be announced at a ceremony on Aug. 6 at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood.

CityTV has previously won several L.A.-area Emmy awards.
