The Santa Monica Elks plan to observe Memorial Day during a ceremony Monday, May 26th, at the Woodlawn Cemetery, 1847 14th St. in Santa Monica.

The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and include performances by the John Adams Middle School and Lincoln Middle School choirs, as well as Jeanie Talbot.

The Fairfax High School band is also scheduled to perform at the ceremony.

Rear Admiral Mark Heinrich will be the ceremony’s featured speaker and Santa Monica Police Explorers will serve as color guard.

Representatives from several civic organizations are scheduled to attend, including the Santa Monica City Council, the Santa Monica Police and Fire Departments, Santa Monica Police Explorers and the Venice American Legion.

No public parking will be provided at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitors are asked to park at Santa Monica College to board a shuttle to the cemetery. The shuttle is scheduled to run every 15 minutes beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Following the ceremony, a barbecue will be served for $8 at the Santa Monica Elks Lodge, 1040 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. The Santa Monica Emblem Club is also holding a bake sale.
