The Santa Monica Elks will celebrate Flag Day during their meeting Thursday, June 11th, three days prior to the official holiday Sunday, June 14th.

The meeting is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1040 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica.

The ceremony will include a presentation of several flags, such as the Pine Flag, Snake Flag, Continental Colors, Betsy Ross flag, and 1795-era flag with 15 stars and stripes. In July 1908, the Elks Grand Lodge provided for the annual observation of Flag Day on June 14th at all subordinate lodges, an Elks spokesman said.

A member of the lodge will discuss how the flag represents the story of America at the Flag Day event.

The Westchester Elks celebrated Flag Day during their meeting Tuesday, June 9th.

Admission is free for the Santa Monica Elks’ Flag Day event. Information, (310) 645-8989.
