In observance of the National Day of Service and Remembrance honoring those who perished in the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, the Santa Monica Fire Department will conduct brief and solemn remembrance ceremonies at city fire stations on the anniversary.

“We will not forget the events of that terrible morning, nor will we forget how Americans responded at the Pentagon, in the skies over Pennsylvania, and in New York City with heroism and selflessness; with compassion and courage,” firefighters said.

Observance ceremonies are scheduled to begin promptly at 6:45 a.m. and should last no longer than 20 minutes.

The public, city employees, and in particular neighbors of the fire stations, who are interested in participating are invited to gather at any one of the following Santa Monica fire stations:

– Station 1, 1444 Seventh St.;

– Station 2, 222 Hollister Ave.;

– Station 3/4, 1302 19th St.; or

– Station 5, 2450 Ashland Ave.
