The Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica has provided a $5,000 grant to Santa Monica High School’s project SAGE (Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship) team for its 2008 World Cup competition in Nigeria.

The Santa Monica team sent seven students and three faculty advisors to Abuja, Nigeria earlier this month to compete against teams from more than 20 other nations. The team earned the trip to Nigeria after winning first place in both the California State tournament in Sacramento and the National tournament in Cincinnati.

Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship is an international organization that encourages entrepreneurship.

The organization also promotes social responsibility, environmental awareness and civic engagement.

Part of the Santa Monica High School group, Project ECHO, the local Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship team currently manages the school’s book store and cafeteria.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
