Pop, folk, jazz and gospel performers will highlight the Santa Monica Nativity Scenes Summer Benefit Concert and Dessert Night scheduled at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 27th at St. Monica Catholic Church’s Cantwell Auditorium, Seventh Street and California Avenue, in Santa Monica.
Concert proceeds will help refurbish booths and support other expenses of presenting the 14 life-size tableaux of the Nativity Scenes, a Santa Monica Christmas tradition along Ocean Avenue in Palisades Park for 55 years.
The event will include a silent auction with items such as a two-night getaway for two in an oceanfront room at the Venice Beach Suites and Hotel, airplane rides from the Santa Monica Airport, a round of golf for two at the Malibu Country Club, and restaurant and other gift certificates.
Among the artists planning to perform are singer-songwriter Melissa Disney; contemporary and gospel singer Helena Buscema; pop soloist Macain Treat; jazz singer Janice Anderson; Monica’s Joy Youth Choir directed by Ed Archer; and the visiting guest duo Dreamwork, made up of Rachel and John Nicholas of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
