The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler, a new comedy by Avenue Q creator Jeff Whitty that follows fictional characters who seek to take charge of their own destinies, will be presented at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica beginning Saturday, Sept. 25 through Oct. 17.
Performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays at the theater, 2627 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. A discussion with the audience is scheduled after the Oct. 2 performance.
A theater spokesperson describes The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler as “a sort of self-empowerment road trip,” with character Hedda being joined by other fictional characters hoping for a re-write. Gone With the Wind’s “Mammy” is Hedda’s primary companion, and along the way they meet Medea, Little Orphan Annie, and Jesus Christ (the Godspell version), among others.
Director Sabrina Ann Lloyd is making her L.A. debut after departing Chicago’s GroundUp Theatre Company, where she directed The Taming of the Shrew and The Seagull.
Reserved seats are $18, or $15 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased online at www.morgan-wixson.org/, or by calling (310) 828-7519.
