Santa Monica Place is inviting the public to support breast cancer research by kicking off October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and participating in special offers and promotions by a number of retail stores.

Participating retailers include Betsey Johnson, Carlton Hair, Coach, Eva Varro, Swarovski Crystals, Skechers, True Religion and department stores Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom, say Santa Monica Place representatives.

“Santa Monica Place is thrilled to see so many of our retailers donating time and money to various charities in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October,” said Adrienned DeVore, senior manager of marketing for Santa Monica Place. “It’s great to see them share the same philosophy of giving back to the community and charitable causes.”

Bloomingdale’s cardholders are invited to join the fight for a cure by opting to “Give Pink Get More,” with a $15 donation on their Insider card that goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). All customers who pay the enrollment fee and spend a minimum of $250 on their Bloomingdale’s Insider Card through Monday, Oct. 31 will earn a $25 gift card.

Customers can receive a card of up to $250 during this time period as “the more they spend the more they get back,” according to Bloomingdale’s.

Bloomingdale’s will also offer many exclusive items with a designated portion of sales benefiting breast cancer research. When customers purchase The Pink Gift Card, 10 percent of the card’s value is donated to BCRF and when redeemed, 10 percent of any spending exceeding the card’s value is also donated.

Customers can also purchase the Little Pink Bag, a reusable tote inspired by Bloomingdale’s famous Little Brown Bag for $20, with $2 going to the foundation from through Oct. 31.

Additionally, a pink umbrella is available for $12 with $6 going back to the foundation. The Little Pink tote and umbrella are available both in-store and online.

At Nordstrom, shoppers can support the message of hope as individuals imagine a world without breast cancer. For every bra purchased from a participating brand during the Nordstrom event, $2 will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Santa Monica Place, whose parent company is Santa Monica-based Macerich, encourages shoppers to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness month and support the research in finding a cure.
