The Santa Monica Police Department has closed its downtown substation in Parking Structure No. 6 due to upcoming demolition and rebuilding of the parking structure.
Police Sgt. Richard Lewis stressed that although the substation at 1431 Second St. is closing, police service in the downtown area will not be affected.
Police officers and downtown service officers will continue to patrol the downtown area on foot and on bicycles, Lewis said.
Anyone who needs to file a report or obtain assistance with a non-emergency issue is encouraged to call (310) 458-8491, or visit the Santa Monica Police Department’s Public Safety Facility at 333 Olympic Drive.
For emergencies and to report suspicious activity or a crime in progress, the public should call 9-1-1.
