Santa Monica police are looking for a suspect or suspects who were allegedly involved in the shooting of a 27-year-old Santa Monica man driving a truck in the Pico Neighborhood of Santa Monica early Tuesday, August 28th.
Santa Monica police received a call from a local hospital at about 4:40 a.m. regarding a gunshot victim who had just walked into the hospital. The man had driven himself to the hospital after being shot in the upper body. He was released after being treated for a non-life-threatening wound, Santa Monica police Lt. Alex Padilla said.
The victim told officers that he had been sleeping inside his truck that was parked in the 1900 block of Cloverfield Boulevard when he was awakened by an unknown suspect or suspects who broke out the driver’s-side window and fled on foot, Padilla said.
The man then drove his truck and chased the suspects, who turned west onto Virginia Avenue.
As the man drove down the street, several shots were fired towards the truck and one of the shots struck the victim in the upper body, Padilla said.
Police said they currently do not have any suspect description and the investigation is ongoing.
