The Santa Monica Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted for the sexual assault of a woman in a taxi cab earlier this month.

The woman arrived at the Public Safety Facility Nov. 18 to report she was a victim of a sexual assault. She told officers that at about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17, she hailed a taxi cab in the 300 block of Arizona Avenue and asked to be driven home.

The woman alleged the cab driver instead drove her to the 3000 block of Barnard Way where he sexually assaulted her, police said. The victim then fled after the alleged assault.

The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man, approximately 56 years old, 5-foot-9, 155 pounds, with short black/gray hair and wearing a flannel shirt, khaki pants, brown shoes and a wristwatch, police said. The suspect was driving a yellow taxi cab, four-door sedan with black lettering.
