The inaugural “Santa Monica Pub Crawl” will kick off at 5 p.m. Saturday, December 19th, with participants asked to dress in Santa or other holiday attire for the tour of several city bars and restaurants to help raise money and food for those in need for the holidays.

Through a partnership with the Westside Food Bank, crawlers are asked to bring non-perishable food donations to drop at food bank collection barrels strategically placed along the pub crawl route, which will allow them access to the drink specials at each location.

Participating locations will be offering drink and food specials as part of the Santa Monica Pub Crawl festivities.

Nearly 1,000 people are expected to participate. Festivities will kick off at both Rusty’s Surf Ranch on the Santa Monica Pier and Wokcano at Fifth Street and Santa Monica Boulevard at 5 p.m. and will conclude at midnight.

The pub crawl will include bars on Wilshire Boulevard, Fourth Street, and Broadway to Santa Monica Boulevard and Ocean Avenue, as well as bars in and around the Main Street and Third Street districts.

Official Santa Monica Pub Crawl T-shirts and Santa hats will be on sale at specific locations as well as on the event Web site.

The Santa Monica Pub Crawl is a community event and encourages responsible drinking by participants. When taking part in any events that involve drinking, participants are advised to always keep safety first.

Event organizers advise crawlers “don’t drink and drive,” and to either assign a designated driver at the beginning of the night, call a taxi, or use public transportation.

Participating bars and restaurants include:

Rusty’s Surf Ranch, Joe’s Pizza, The Yard, West 4th & Jane, Britannia, Harvelle’s, Renee’s, O’Brien’s, Wokcano, Ye Olde Kings Head, NY & C Pizza, JP’s Pub, Shangrila Hotel, Big Dean’s, and Enterprise Fish Co.

The event is presented by the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Westside Food Bank and SPIN Public Relations.
