Donald Peckner, an employment law attorney and Santa Monica resident for the past 36 years, died of natural causes Sunday, March 4th. He was 78 years old.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 8th, at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in Culver City.
Remembrances may be sent in Peckner’s name to The Koreh Program of The Jewish Federation or to The Stroke Association of Southern California.
Peckner was born in New York City on March 15th, 1928 and began his career as a professional metallurgical engineer. He authored several books in this field.
He later became an employment law attorney, court-appointed mediator and judge pro tem.
During the past five years, he was a volunteer reading tutor at Mar Vista Elementary School as part of Koreh program.
His hobbies included gardening and nature protectionist conservation.
Peckner is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris; son Dr. Lloyd Peckner and his wife Susan; daughter Nancy Delson and her husband Michael; daughter Amy Peckner; and by what he dubbed his “awesome foursome,” grandsons Justin, Ryan, Matthew and Sean.
He also leaves behind a large extended family and many friends.
