The Santa Monica Rugby Club under-14 boys team has clinched a berth in the playoffs with one league game remaining.

The team is undefeated in league play with a 4-0 record after defeating West Valley 27-15 March 27th.

The game was close throughout and Santa Monica never led by more than one try, or seven points, until the final five minutes when Jamie Stewart scored to put Santa Monica out of reach at 27-15.

Conor Lydon and Nathan LaRouche also scored for Santa Monica. Despite missing six players from the starting 15 due to Spring Break, the strength and depth of the under-14 squad was evident, coaches said.

The club’s under-16 boys team was also victorious March 27th in a 28-0 defeat of the L.A. Cougars and earned a playoff berth after finishing its league season at 4-1.

The under-19 boys lost 20-15 against the L.A. Cougars, ending their hopes of post-season play.
