The Santa Monica Symphony will perform its second concert of its 2011-12 season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St., Santa Monica.

The program will include William Mathias’ Laudi, Alberto Ginastera’s Pampeana No. 3, and Antonin Dvor‡k’s Symphony No. 6.

UCLA professor of musicology Raymond Knapp will present a preconcert lecture on the repertoire beginning at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and no reservations or tickets are required.

The Santa Monica Symphony presents five free concerts each season to listeners of all ages, attracting around 6,000 audience members annually.

Some upcoming concerts include Richard Strauss’ Death and Transfiguration, John Adams’ Eros Piano with preeminent Adams interpreter Gloria Cheng, and the premiere of Paisajes: Concerto for Flamenco Guitar and Orchestra by Adam del Monte.
