Los Angeles police are alerting Westchester residents to a series of thefts of older-model Chevrolets in the area last month.
Police at the Pacific division have issued an advisory noting that seven Chevrolets were reported stolen in the Westchester area between Sept. 16-22.
Almost all of the vehicles were 1970 and 1980-era models, police said. Three were El Caminos, three were trucks, and one Malibu was stolen.
Police advise residents who own a similar type of vehicle to ensure that it is locked and secured. If possible, residents are asked to park these type of vehicles in their garage or behind a fence.
Steering wheel locks and other security devices are also highly advised, police said.
Anyone who witnesses anything suspicious is encouraged to contact Pacific division police at (310) 482-6334.
