Seven candidates, including one incumbent, have been elected to serve on the Del Rey Neighborhood Council board of directors.
Eighty ballots were cast in the board of directors election, which was held Saturday, January 21st, at the Marina del Rey Middle School in Del Rey.
Eight area director seats were open, but no candidates filed to run for the Area G seat, which represents the Mar Vista Gardens area, said Michael Stafford, Neighborhood Council communications officer.
According to the final election results, the seven candidates elected to serve a two-year term on the board of directors, and their final vote tally are;
– Area A;
Jonathon Neumann, four votes
– Area B;
Fred Waltman, 28 votes
– Area C;
Renae Paonessa, four votes
Elena U. Rodriguez, four votes
– Area E;
Bill Hinton, one vote
Glen Michaelsen, seven votes
Mary M. Anderson, 20 votes
Neumann was the only incumbent to run in the election. Hinton and Paonessa won their area director seats as write-in candidates.
While no candidate filed to run for the Area G seat, Neighborhood Council members plan to appoint a community member for the seat at a future council meeting, Stafford said.
Neighborhood Council members are looking at ways to improve outreach efforts after the election turnout was lower than for the last election, Stafford said.
The election for Del Rey Neighborhood Council officers is scheduled to be held in October.
