Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Marina del Rey Station deputies will be on the lookout for alcohol- and drug-impaired boaters Friday through Sunday, June 22 through 24.
The Marina Sheriff’s station is participating in Operation Dry Water, which is a national weekend of Boating Under the Influence (BUI) detection and enforcement. The campaign is aimed at reducing the number of alcohol- and drug-related accidents and fatalities.
The Sheriff’s Department Marine Unit works to foster a stronger and more visible deterrent to alcohol and drug use on the water in an effort to educate boaters about boating under the influence, sheriff’s officials said.
Marina del Rey Marine Patrol will increase its presence on the water during Operation Dry Water by conducting traffic stops, and BUI sobriety checkpoints.
